Thanks to the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program, Amory began attending Erie Day School in September of 2006. He loves the small class sizes and close interaction with his teachers. His favorite subjects are science and French. Each day he smiles at breakfast and looks forward to going to school to see his teachers and classmates. |

We are the parents of 7-year old quadruplets—Brenna, Jacob, Olivia and Zachary—who attend Mother of Sorrows Catholic School (M.O.S.S) in Murrysville, PA. We chose M.O.S.S. because of the small school setting and spiritual atmosphere that surround our children on a daily basis. The religious teachings of the school are well integrated into the educational curriculum of the school. We feel fortunate that we are able to send our children to such a great school, which would not be possible without the EITC.

When our first child was nearing kindergarten age, homeschooling never entered our minds as an option. My husband and I are products of the public school system and I have spent my entire professional career as a speech therapist and teacher in public schools. In the fall, prior to our son entering school, I went to visit our local elementary school. I found a very large class, about 25 students, a teacher and no aide. Next we pursued other elementary schools in our district, but were told we would have to provide transportation and that the district could not guarantee Jake and two younger children, Erin and Hannah, would have a spot in the same school each year. Then, we pursued private schools in our area, but soon realized how difficult it would be to pay tuition for three children as we continued to pay our college loans.

When I first heard of PA Cyber and the many opportunities I would have if I joined, I was ecstatic! One of the reasons why I chose this school was the fact that you can have your own schedule. It is wonderful to be able to have choices and to be able to make your own decisions as to your education. This school has enough flexibility that I am able to do volunteer work in my spare time, which I want to continue into my adult life. Being in PA Cyber has also allowed me to do more things with my family.

The Jones Family
Tonya and Raymond were pinching off of her husband’s life insurance for six and a half years and there was the probability of Tonya removing Raymond from the school that he loved because of funds. Tonya submitted an application for a scholarship for her son, Raymond, from Faith First Educational Assistance Corporation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A week prior to Faith First’s Annual Awards Reception where they give the recipients their scholarships, she emailed the president of Faith First pleading, “There must be some mistake; I did not receive a letter from Faith First selecting my son for a scholarship.” Tonya and Raymond went to the Awards Reception to tell their story. |
